On Track with Gold Coast Light Rail 2

Date Published 2nd September 2016

Following the recent announcement of the start of construction of the second stage of the Gold Coast Light Rail by CPB Contractors, H2flow is proud to be contracted to site to provide specialist water truck services and potable drinking water supply for the project. H2flow’s operator, Alex Graham, is our first operator to the site. Over the coming months multiple trucks are earmarked to join Alex and the Light Rail team to assist in dust suppression and soil compaction for the 7.3 kilometre dual track extension.

The Stage 2 extension will take up to 18 months to complete and will have trams operating before the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. The extension of the Gold Coast light rail will operate from Gold Coast University Hospital to Helenvale’s heavy rail station, to connect Stage 1 with the main Brisbane to Gold Coast rail line.

The Gold Coast Light Rail is the fourth major rail project H2flow has collaborated with CPB Contractors (formally Thiess) including;

  • Robina to Varsity Lakes
  • Richlands to Springfield
  • Moreton Bay Rail Line
